Getting started

Most shops are showing social-proof popups in a few minutes. Proof ships with sensible defaults — install, and popups appear once you have qualifying recent orders.

  • WordPress 6.5 or newer
  • WooCommerce 8.0 or newer (HPOS and Cart/Checkout Blocks supported)
  • PHP 8.1 or newer
  1. Install and activate WooCommerce (8.0 or later).
  2. Install Proof from the plugin directory (when live on WordPress.org) or upload the proof folder to /wp-content/plugins/.
  3. Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen.

Open WooCommerce → Proof (defaults work out of the box):

  • Corner — pick any of the four screen corners.
  • Fields — toggle first name and billing city individually; set a neutral fallback for a missing first name.
  • Timing — initial delay, display time and interval between popups.
  • Frequency cap — maximum popups per page view.
  • Scope — whole storefront, shop/archives/products, or single products only.
  • Order window — maximum order age and maximum number of orders to draw from.
  • Demo data — off by default; only activates when there are no real qualifying orders, for previewing on a new store.
  1. With at least one completed or processing order in the window, open the storefront.
  2. After the initial delay, a popup should appear in your chosen corner showing first name and/or city.
  3. Confirm the popup dismisses with the keyboard-focusable button and respects your frequency cap.
  4. Check that it causes no layout shift — it should be fixed to the corner and never push content.
  5. On a brand-new store with no orders, enable demo data to preview, then turn it off.

Each popup only ever shows a customer’s first name and billing city, and only the fields you enable. Surnames, emails, full addresses and order numbers are never exposed to the browser. All data comes from your own WooCommerce orders and stays on your site — Proof connects to no external services.

The free edition covers recent-sale popups from real orders, privacy-safe fields, corner, timing, scope, frequency cap and optional demo data.

Proof PRO blends recent approved product reviews into the rotation (e.g. “Maria reviewed Hoodie ★★★★★”), with a minimum-rating filter and review count/age limits — not basic sale popups.
