VAT display
Polish law requires a store to state clearly whether a price includes VAT. The VAT Display module adds a VAT rate notice next to the product price, such as “including 23% VAT”, and supports the small business VAT exemption (Article 113 of the VAT Act).
Gross or net prices
Section titled “Gross or net prices”Whether prices show gross or net is a WooCommerce setting, not a Polski one: WooCommerce > Settings > Tax > Display prices in the shop. Polski has no switch of its own for it.
The notice says the price includes VAT, so it shows only when the shop displays prices including tax. A shop that displays net prices gets no VAT notice.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”The module is on by default. Its settings are on the VAT Display card in Polski > Modules.
| Setting | Default (set on activation, in the site language) | Description |
|---|---|---|
| VAT notice text | incl. {rate}% VAT |
Text shown next to the price. {rate} is replaced by the product’s VAT rate. |
| Small business exemption (Art. 113) | off | Turns on the exemption described below. |
| Exemption text | VAT exempt under Article 113(1) of the Polish VAT Act |
Text shown instead of the rate notice while the exemption is on. |
The rate comes from the tax class of the product in WooCommerce (WooCommerce > Settings > Tax). A product with no matching tax rate shows no notice.
VAT exemption (Article 113)
Section titled “VAT exemption (Article 113)”Sellers exempt from VAT under Article 113 of the VAT Act must tell the customer that the price does not include VAT because of the exemption.
With Small business exemption (Art. 113) on, and while the module is enabled:
- the plugin switches WooCommerce tax calculation off, so the cart and checkout add no VAT,
- the exemption text replaces the VAT rate notice.
Adjust the exemption text if your basis is different, for example Article 113 paragraph 9 for a business started during the year.
Where the notice appears
Section titled “Where the notice appears”- On the single product page, in the product summary.
- Anywhere you place the
[polski_tax_notice]shortcode, the Tax Information block (polski/tax-notice) or the Tax Information Elementor widget.
The shortcode takes one optional attribute, product, the product ID. Without it, it uses the current product:
[polski_tax_notice][polski_tax_notice product="123"]Customisation
Section titled “Customisation”The notice HTML passes through the polski/price/vat_notice filter before it is printed:
add_filter('polski/price/vat_notice', function (string $html, WC_Product $product): string { return $html;}, 10, 2);The template can be overridden by copying templates/single-product/tax-info.php to yourtheme/polski/single-product/tax-info.php.
CSS classes:
.polski-tax-info { font-size: 0.85em; color: #666;}
.polski-tax-info--exempt { font-weight: 600;}VAT rates in Poland
Section titled “VAT rates in Poland”| Rate | Application |
|---|---|
| 23% | Standard rate, most goods and services |
| 8% | Reduced rate, for example residential construction and catering services |
| 5% | Reduced rate, for example some food, books and periodicals |
| 0% | Zero rate, for example exports and intra-community supply of goods |
Set these rates in WooCommerce. The plugin only reads them.
