Gift Cards

Gift Cards lets you sell gift cards that email a redeemable code to the recipient and apply as a discount at checkout. The plugin tracks each card’s balance and supports partial redemption.

Why stores pick Gift Cards

Gift Cards covers sell → email code → redeem at checkout with stored balance and partial redemption. Use this plugin or Polski PRO gift cards — not both. With Polski FREE it is a standalone GPL gift-card system.

Highlights

  • Mark any product as a gift card with a single toggle.
  • A unique code is generated after purchase and emailed to the recipient.
  • A redeem field at checkout applies the card’s balance like a discount.
  • The card balance is stored, with partial redemption carried over.
  • A configurable email subject and body, plus a card-code prefix.
  • The card value comes from the product price, honouring quantity - one code per unit.

How gift cards work

A product flagged as a gift card generates a code per purchased unit. The code is emailed to the recipient (by default the order email, with an optional per-line recipient). At checkout, entering the code applies its balance as a negative cart fee; the stored balance decrements on order completion, and any remainder carries over.

Editions

  • Free on WordPress.org. Selling cards, an emailed code, redemption at checkout and a balance with partial redemption.
  • Pro (Freemius) ships custom amounts, scheduled delivery, the [giftcards_balance] shortcode, admin redemption history, custom card email designs and bulk CSV generation. PDF attachments remain planned. See Gift Cards Pro.

Gift Cards sits alongside Add-Ons (product options) and Bundle (product sets). All three are independent GPL plugins from wppoland.com — pick one gift-card system (this plugin or Polski PRO), not both.

Compatible with Polski

Gift Cards is a standalone gift-card system. Polski PRO also offers gift cards — pick one system, do not run both. If you use Polski PRO gift cards, skip this plugin. Otherwise it is safe with Polski FREE. See Standalone storefront plugins.
