Pair
Product recommendations without manual setup
Pair shows related products on the product page, cross-sell suggestions in the cart and a recently viewed block. You pick one of five strategies per block, so the suggestions stay fresh as your catalogue and your sales change.

Manual cross-sells go stale
WooCommerce has manual upsells and cross-sells, but large catalogues are hard to curate product by product. The result is empty sections or suggestions that no longer fit the current offer.
- ✗ Manual related products per product
- ✗ Cart cross-sells need constant curation
- ✗ Empty blocks when nothing is selected
- ✗ Heavy sliders and scripts can hurt page speed
Pair generates suggestions automatically
- ✓ Five strategies per block: category, tags, best sellers, newest, recently viewed
- ✓ Shared categories ordered by total sales by default
- ✓ Every strategy falls back to recent products, so a block is never empty
- ✓ Renders a normal WooCommerce product grid with no layout shift
What you get in the free version
A light recommendation module for the product page and cart.
You may also like
An automatic recommendation block after the single product summary.
Cart cross-sells
Product suggestions under the cart, based on what is already in it.
Recently viewed
A block of the products this shopper already looked at, on the product page, the cart or both. Product IDs live in a first-party cookie and are never sent anywhere.
Five strategies
Pick how each block chooses products: same category by popularity (the default), shared tags, best sellers, newest products or recently viewed. Every strategy falls back to recent products, so a block is never empty.
Count and columns
Choose 1-12 products, 1-6 columns, an in-stock-only filter and your own heading per block.
Shortcodes
Use `[pair_recommendations]` or `[pair_recently_viewed]` to place a block anywhere.
Light frontend
No custom JavaScript; the grid uses your theme's WooCommerce product-card markup.
Multisite
Each site in a network keeps its own recommendation settings.

Products from the same categories appear automatically, without setting relationships on every item.

- ✓ Popularity
- ✓ Fallback
Cart cross-sell
The cart suggests products based on what the shopper has already chosen.
- ✓ Cart
- ✓ Shared categories
- ✓ In-stock filter
Light WooCommerce themes
Pair does not add a slider or frontend JS. It renders products through WooCommerce.
- ✓ No JS
- ✓ No layout shift
- ✓ Theme markup
What PRO adds, and why it matters
Frequently bought together
A product-page block of the items most often purchased in the same order, mined from completed and processing orders (bounded scan, 12h cache).
Add all to cart
One button adds the whole set to the cart. Plain nonce-protected form, no JavaScript dependency.
Bundle discount
An optional "buy the whole set, save X%": once the set is in the cart the discount applies as a negative cart fee, and it drops off as soon as any product from the set leaves the cart.
Manual curation
Hand-pick the recommendations for a specific product instead of leaving it to the automatic picks. The selection is stored in product meta and leads the automatic results.
Category rules
"When a product is in category A, recommend from category B". Rules are set globally and lead the product-page block.
Extra placements
Recommendations on the order-received page and at checkout too, in the same markup as the free plugin's blocks.
Editor block
A dynamic "Pair Recommendations" block for the block editor and FSE templates, rendered on the server.
A/B testing
Each visitor gets a sticky variant (cookie): A keeps the default strategy, B swaps in another one, and the dashboard reports both side by side.
Recommendation analytics
Impressions, clicks and add-to-cart attributed to the clicked product, on their own screen. Attribution is click-based and approximate, a directional signal rather than revenue accounting.
Performance and HPOS safe
Reads orders through the WooCommerce order API (HPOS-compatible), a bounded scan of recent orders, and a cached result. Settings live on WooCommerce → Pair Pro.

Frequently asked questions
Does Pair require WooCommerce?
Yes. Pair works with WooCommerce products and shows no recommendation blocks unless WooCommerce is active.
How are recommendations chosen?
You pick a strategy per block: same category by popularity (the default), shared tags, best sellers, newest products, or the products this shopper recently viewed. When a strategy does not return enough products, the block fills up with recent ones.
Does this replace WooCommerce upsells?
No. Pair does not remove native upsells or cross-sells. It adds an automatic recommendation block for stores that do not want to curate every product by hand.
Can I hide out-of-stock products?
Yes. The settings include an in-stock-only filter.
Does it work without JavaScript?
Yes. Blocks are rendered in PHP and use the standard WooCommerce product-card markup. The plugin adds no custom frontend JavaScript. Recently viewed stores product IDs in a first-party cookie, nothing else.
Can I place the block manually?
Yes. The `[pair_recommendations]` shortcode works on product pages and elsewhere, where it uses the cart as context, and `[pair_recently_viewed]` places the recently viewed block.
How does Pair compare to WPC Frequently Bought Together and Product Recommendations?
All three surface product recommendations. Pair gives automatic "You may also like", cart cross-sells and recently viewed free and open source, with Frequently Bought Together in PRO from €29/yr, while WPC Frequently Bought Together is manual-pick (premium $99.50/yr) and the official Product Recommendations has no free version ($99/yr). Pricing as of June 2026.
